OUR VISION

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia is a learning and worshipping community of teachers and students centered in the Gospel of the crucified and risen Christ, firmly committed to Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions, with an intentional openness to enrichment from other traditions.

OUR COMMITMENT

As a school of the church, centered in the Lutheran tradition but with an intentional openness to enrichment from other traditions, this seminary provides:

  • a dynamic worship life featuring daily chapel as well as small groups for reflection, Bible study and prayer
  • a talented faculty steeped in both the theory and practice of ministry, eager to share both their wisdom and themselves
  • pastoral attention of administrators willing to assist those with special needs
  • meals served family-style and a rich community life
  • a gracious 14-acre campus, with a $6 million student housing complex completed in 1998 and a new learning center scheduled for construction in 2002, which will include a commons and relocated bookstore, as well as classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art electronic capabilities, including video-conferencing.
  • preparation in a fully inclusive, multicultural and global community
  • located in a unique metropolitan neighborhood in a major city rich in history and culture.

The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia is committed to developing and nurturing leaders solidly rooted in Scripture, formed by prayer, imbued with missionary zeal, and able to mobilize the people of God to tackle the difficult task of renewing the church in our day.
