    3. Your relationship to the Church
    4. An assessment of your strengths and areas for growth

    • At least one reference must be from a person who would be familiar with your academic and/or leadership capabilities. Ideally, this would be a professor with whom you have studied. If you have been out of school for some time, a work supervisor or peer would be an appropriate reference.
    • A person who knows you well (other than a relative).

After completing the top portion of the reference forms, please provide one to each person from whom you are asking a reference and ask that they return them to LTSP promptly. You may also wish to provide each of them with a stamped envelope addressed to the admissions office at the seminary. References should be sent directly to the Admissions Office, The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, 7301 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19119.

  1. Application fee. You may submit your application fee via our secure credit card processing at the completion of this form. If you do not wish to submit your fee on-line, please forward a check or money order in the amount of $40 payable to The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

INFORMATION

Application deadlines. Although it is wise to apply between nine and twelve months prior to your intended starting date, LTSP has a rolling admissions process. Once all of your application materials are received, you are considered for admission at the next meeting of the Admissions Committee, which meets at least once, often twice per month. You are informed of the committee’s decision by letter as soon as it is made.

Financial Aid. Should you plan to apply for financial aid, we suggest that you do so at the same time you apply for admission. If you do, and you qualify for admission, you will receive a provisional financial aid package along with your acceptance letter. Otherwise you will receive notification of your financial aid package within one month of completing the appropriate forms. For additional information about financial aid, including merit scholarships, please see the financial aid forms (Information and Application available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.) available on this web site.

Transfer Students. Transfer students must complete the regular application form. In addition, a letter of good standing from your current seminary is required for admission.

Housing. Applications for housing are sent along with letters of acceptance.
