Creation: Fall and Flood Lecture Series coming in February
Creation: Fall and Flood is the theme of a special six lecture series starting Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP). The not-for-credit series will be presented by the Rev. Dr. Robert B. Robinson, the Anna Burkhalter Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at LTSP, and is open to anyone with an interest in exploring the creation story. What sort of world do we live in? What is our place in that world? What does it mean to be human? What is our relationship with one another and with God? Where does evil come from? Profound human questions. Inevitably we return to the time of origins to seek answers, to "in the beginning." Creation, Fall and Flood is a shared exploration of the Bible's reflections on our most formative questions. Through lecture and group discussion the biblical portrait of the first times will become clear, as well as the force of that portrait in shaping our understanding of our world. Creation: Fall and Flood is the first course from the new Mt. Airy School of Religion at LTSP, offering not-for-credit courses exploring such topics as Interfaith Dialog, the Crusades, Violence and American Religion, spirituality and commentaries on contemporary bestsellers, featuring LTSP faculty. The sessions will be held on six consecutive Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 pm in the new Brossman Learning Center on the LTSP Campus, 7301 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia. For more information, contact Shannon Cunningham, 215-248-7302 or email registrar @ ltsp.edu.
