In a service of Evening Prayer (Vespers), the Choir of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia will sing George Frederick Handel’s Utrecht Te Deum with soloists Pamela Cooper-White, Jessica Davis, Johanetta Cornell, Nathan Baker-Trinity, and Darryl Kozak accompanied by chamber orchestra and conducted by Seminary Musician Mark Mummert.

Handel’s Utrecht Te Deum was composed for the peace at Utrecht in 1713. This setting of the text Te Deum laudamus, an early creedal canticle of the Church comparable to the Gloria in excelsis, includes some of Handel’s most powerful and sensitive writing. The text and music are the perfect jubilation in the great fifty days of Easter.
