Assistant Librarian/Cataloger (NEW POSITION)

Introduction: The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia seeks qualified applicants for a new full-time position - Assistant Librarian/Cataloger in the Krauth Memorial Library. The position will be available September 2008.

Position Summary: The Assistant Librarian/Cataloger, under the direction of the Director the Library, will share in the administration of the Krauth Memorial Library and serve as the OCLC expert, maintaining the electronic catalog and performing the retrospective cataloging of materials in the collection.

Qualifications:

• MLS from an ALA accredited institution
• Ability to make independent decisions and cooperate with library staff
• Knowledge of AACR2, OCLC, MARC formats, LC classification, and LC Subject Headings
• Knowledge of Windows and other software as necessary to work with OCLC and Endeavor/Voyager
• Subject knowledge in religious studies, knowledge of German and supervisory experience helpful
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
