Faculty Position in Pastoral Theology and Care The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP) is seeking a full-time faculty person in the area of Pastoral Theology and Care. Rank is negotiable according to experience and qualifications, and is tenurable. LTSP is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and is intentionally focused on developing Christian leaders for an increasingly pluralistic and global context. LTSP’s mission and program are ecumenical, multicultural, and publicly oriented. The professor in this position will be expected to teach five courses per year, including the basic course required for all MDiv students (Introduction to Pastoral Care), two electives (such as Death and Dying and/or Relationships, Marriage and Family, or others depending on the strengths of the person in the position), as well as courses in the graduate school (DMin, STM, and PhD). We do not prepare students at any level to become certified pastoral counselors or psychotherapists. The role of the instructor is critical in enabling students to articulate, from whatever their tradition, a theology for and basic competencies in pastoral care as they go into ministry. In addition, the faculty member will act as an advisor to students, particularly graduate students who are majoring in the area. All faculty members are expected to contribute to administrative needs and community life on campus, as well as to the wider Church, civic life, and academic guilds (such as the Society for Pastoral Theology, the American Association for Pastoral Counselors, and the American Academy of Religion). Applicants should have an MDiv as well as a ThD or PhD in Pastoral Theology/Care. Further, they should have both clinical and pastoral experience. Women, persons of color, and lay persons are encouraged to apply. Letters of interest and curriculum vitae should be sent by July 15 to:
