Seminary Musician The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia invites applications for the post of Seminary Musician. The applicant should have advanced ability in organ and pianoforte playing and choral leadership, and is expected to train the seminary choir to sing for special occasions and at regular chapel services, and lead the musical life of the community during worship. The Seminary Musician will embody respect for the centrality of music as it helps to feed the profundity of ecumenical worship patterns that have sustained the church in every time and place, and sensitivity to the variety of ways of "making a joyful noise to the Lord" that lie at the heart of Christian worship. Familiarity with the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship settings and hymns will be an asset. The Seminary Musician is expected to be committed to diverse musical traditions and display openness to the variety and range of musical styles that enrich the worship life of the church, including black sacred music and musical treasures from the world-wide church.
