Perspective on Multiculturalism
1. How does your congregation define "multicultural" in its ministry and mission?
2. Describe some specific ways that your congregation is multicultural.
For example:
Is there richness in terms of laguage, skin color, race, class, culture, or ethnicity? How so?
Do congregational activities such as outreach programs, education, or regular weekly worship emphasize multiculturalisim?
3. What challenges to multiculturalism has the congregation faced, or what multicultural elements does the congregation wish to expand or improve upon?
4. Does the congregation have a specific occasion (such as a particular day, week, or month) when the multicultural elements are most celebrated and visible? If so, please share the specific place(s), date(s) and time(s). Ideally, representatives of the MMRC will be visiting congregations to get a sense of how multiculturalism is functioning in the Church. We are asking this question to determine ideal times for such visits.
