Have you ever experienced God's awesome presence through music? If you were in attendance at the first annual Multicultural Mission Resource Center Event: Peace to God's People on Earth Songs of the Seasons from Many People and Places on December 17, 2005, you most assuredly did. Approximately 250 people attended to participate in this inspired event-a concert that included 13 choirs all singing praise, adoration and expectation in their mother tongue.

The colors, sounds, and intonations were enough to make anyone dizzy. It was truly a whole people coming together as God's people-God's whole people-celebrating the One God who brings us all together. It brought into clearer focus the beauty of diversity as each group fed off of the Spirit of the last-all the while bringing their own unique culture and character. It is incredible the many sounds that a human mouth can make-the deliberate contortions that create such awe-inspiring praise.

After the three-hour celebration everyone reassembled in the Lull Lounge for a time of fellowship and food. Many of the choirs brought epicurean delights to share, all from their own distinct cultural background. The smells were enough to make even the most unadventurous soul's mouth water. In addition, there was a display of crafts representing the many regions of the world. It simply added to the diverse and complex gathering of friends that evening.

Next year the concert will happen again, God willing, and I would encourage all and sundry to take part. Thank you to all the choirs, musicians, volunteers, sound crews, maintenance crews, and communications crews that made this possible. Many people put much time, effort and energy into this witness-and thank God-because the world is a richer place because of it.
