Dr. Robin Mattison featured in Mosaic
PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 30, 2004) -- Who were the women of the early church and what was their role in the formation of the Christian faith? Why do we know so little about them? Professor Robin Mattison, who teaches New Testament and Greek at the seminary, is featured in a video magazine program about "Women in the Early Church," produced by Tim Frakes for Mosaic Television. Dr. Mattison was interviewed by the ELCA's Wendy McCreedie for the program on the seminary campus in September. On the video Mattison goes into detail about the leadership roles women played in the early church. Viewers will learn about these key women -- Mary Magdalene, Perpetua, Thecla and Helena. The video also features scholars from Luther College, Wartburg Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Much of the program was shot on location in Rome, Italy.
