LTSP Cleans Up for Spring

spring planting

An enthusiastic volunteer crew of 31 helped clean-up and brighten-up the Mt. Airy campus of The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia with the annual Spring Clean-Up day on Friday, April 21, 2006.  Highlight of the day was the planting of ten new trees that will add to the "urban forest" setting of the LTSP campus on Germantown Avenue.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provided a generous grant of $1,600 to support the cost of the trees and other materials used during the event.  A total of 85 man-hours of volunteer time made the successful day possible.  In addition to Thrivent's financial support, 17 of the 31 volunteers for the day were also Thrivent members.

In addition to new trees, weeding, mulching and debris clean-up activities occupied the crew on what turned out to be a sunny spring afternoon.  The successful event adds to the beauty of the campus, to be enjoyed by faculty, students and staff as well as the surrounding community.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is the country's largest fraternal benefit society, with nearly 3 million members.  More information about Thrivent is available on the Web at www.thrivent.com.
