LTSP professor travels to Africa as guest speaker at seminary in the Republic of Ghana

PHILADELPHIA, PA – April 20, 2007 – The Rt. Rev. Dr. Frederick H. Borsch, Professor of New Testament and Chair of Anglican Studies at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP), recently traveled to the Republic of Ghana in Africa to visit The St. Nicholas’ Seminary (Anglican) Cape Coast as the guest speaker at an annual seminar on “Church and Society.” The four-day seminar was held from Tuesday, April 17 – Friday, April 20, 2007, and the theme was, “The Gospel Challenge in a World of Pluralism and Globalization.”

About The Rt. Rev. Dr. Frederick H. Borsch
Prior to his appointment to the new Chair of Anglican Studies at LTSP, Dr. Borsch was Interim Dean of the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University and Associate Dean of the Yale Divinity School. He is the retired Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles. In addition to holding teaching posts in England and at Seabury-Western and the General Theological Seminaries, Dr. Borsch was formerly Dean, President and Professor of New Testament at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, and Dean of the Chapel with rank of Professor of Religion at Princeton University, where he taught in the Program in the History, Archaeology and Religions of the Ancient World. From 1988 to 2000, he was Chair of the Theology Committee for the House of Bishops of the Episcopal Church. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Religion at the University of Southern California. Contributor of essays, articles and poetry to a number of journals and newspapers, he is the author of 17 books, and he has been a conference leader and given university and seminary lectures at a number of institutions in the U.S. and abroad. In 1985, he was for 13 weeks the preacher for The Protestant Hour.
