Campbell, Loder, Resmer presenters for Seminary's 'Preaching Days' June 12-14

Report on the Event

PHILADELPHIA (April 24)-- "Seek ye first..." is the theme for this year's Preaching Days series sponsored by the Academy of Preachers at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (LTSP). The event will be conducted June 12-14.

This year's presenters are the Rev. Dr. Charles Campbell, Associate Professor of Homiletics at Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA (June 12); the Rev. Dr. Adele Stiles Resmer, Associate Professor of Homiletics at LTSP (June 13), and the Rev. Dr. Theodore Loder (June 14), who for 37 years as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia's Germantown section, lived out an approach to worship style and dynamic preaching that he argued are crucial to maintaining vigorous church life.

The Rev. Dr. Charles CampbellPreaching Days for more than 15 years has been gathering clergy from a variety of denominations to discover and explore fresh insights and enhance skills and share perspectives on quality preaching. Each day features a lecture and a workshop.

Dr. Campbell is a Presbyterian pastor particularly concerned about Biblical, theological and ethical dimensions of preaching and worship. He is Associate Editor of The Journal for Preachers and is the author of many articles and two books.

The Rev.Dr.Adele Stiles ResmerDr. Resmer, in addition to her LTSP teaching, directs the Academy of Preachers and edits the Seminary's Parish Practice Notebook newsletter/journal. At one time she directed the Center for Ethics and Social Ministry for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Division for Church and Society. She will be assisted in leading her afternoon workshop by the Rev. Gladys G. Moore, an Assistant to the New Jersey Synod Bishop. Before retiring recently, Dr. Loder served First Church, which maintained a vigorous membership of 1,000, contrary to many urban settings. He has been known for presenting sermons as dramas, poetry and stories. And under his leadership the church started more than a dozen initiatives addressing community, national and international concerns.
