Three
visiting professors set for Spring
Three eminent church leaders with a variety of national and
international perspectives will teach at the Seminary in the
coming year.
All the courses below except the Preaching Course by Dr. McClain
may be audited by anyone with interest. The auditing fee is
$330. However, for a limited time, the courses offered by Bishop
Buthlezi are available for auditing at a special fee of $120.

The Rev. Dr. Manas Buthelezi, who has served as a Bishop
in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Africa, will teach
two courses. He will present a 12-week course on "Theological
and Practical Witness of the Church During the Apartheid Era
in South Africa. The course is directed to First Professional
Degree students. He will also lead "Jesus and Salvation: South
African Perspectives," a 12-week course aimed at Advanced-Level
Degree (Graduate) students. This second course will focus on
the Second Article of the Apostles' Creed and drawn hope and
sustenance from it at critical times in history.
Dr. Gnana Robinson, Professor of Old Testament at United
Theological College in Bangalore, India, will teach two courses
in the spring. His courses, directed at First Professional Degree
students will focus on "The Biblical Jubilee and Challenges
Today" and "The Book of Daniel." Dr. Robinson chairs the area
of Biblical Studies at the United Theological College.
Dr. William B. McClain, Professor of Homiletics and
Worship at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.,
will teach on the topic of worship Tuesday evenings during the
spring semester, when he will serve as a visiting professor
at LTSP. He will also offer an intensive Graduate-Level course
on "Urban Preaching" during the Seminary's annual Preaching
with Power Week March 12-16. Dr. McClain, author of a wide variety
of books, conceived the idea of the "Songs of Zion" songbook,
featuring religious songs from the African American tradition.
He chaired the Advisory Committee for that publication by Abingdon
Press in 1981.
