Preaching with Power

An annual forum on Black Preaching and Theology is sponsored by the Urban Theological Institute (UTI) of the Seminary and features events both on campus and at neighboring churches. The spring event features lectures and sermons by dynamic African American pastors and theologians. The Preaching with Power program is a hallmark event sponsored by the UTI, an institute founded in the early 1980s as a fully accredited educational program conducted evenings and Saturdays for the continuing education of African American church leaders.

The Globalization Program

Our global focus helps students and others become better-prepared leaders for the next century.  The program offers:

  • International scholarships and fellowships to students from overseas to study on the LTSP campus.
  • Opportunities for American students to study abroad at schools like the Collegium Oekumenicum in Munich, Germany and with the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Cominus University, Bratislava, Slovakia. Internships have taken our students to such places as Egypt, Latvia, India, Taiwan and Zimbabwe.
  • Global awareness seminars have offered our students experiences in South Africa, Eastern Europe, Puerto Rico and India. Such travels offer graduate students study credits as well as a diverse cultural experience pivotal to their preparation as leaders. Future seminars will focus on our Biblical Heritage (Middle East), Reformation Heritage (visiting Martin Luther historical sites), and a tour of Italy and Dachau (with a focus on the Oberammergau Passion Play).
  • Professors and church leaders from abroad teach periodically on our campus.

The Media Center

The Media Center provides multimedia, video and audio production capabilities, both in its studio and on location. The Center also provides and manages resources including equipment for classroom and other public presentations. The Center produces and maintains an extensive library of audio and video recordings of Seminary events and significant external programs and presentations.

The Media Center is located on the ground floor of the Hagan Center. John Kahler, Media Center Manager and Instructional Designer, and the staff by student assistants are ready to help. The Center can be reached by dialing 215/248-6397 - you can reach John by email at jkahler@ltsp.edu. An experimental calendar for the Media Center can be found here.
