New Students, Fall 2005

Nancy Beckwith

Nancy BeckwithHaving pondered her sense of call for over a decade, Nancy Beckwith accepted an invitation to visit the seminary last year and discovered a school that "offered just the right combination…of academic study and pastoral formation." Other characteristics of the community drew her here as well: "the genuine warmth and hospitality I felt from students, staff and faculty alike; the vibrant worship life; the strong Lutheran curriculum; the academic strength of the faculty; the racial, ethnic and religious diversity of faculty, staff and student body; and the school's location in an urban setting."

So, having spent most of her life living and working in metropolitan Boston, Nancy left her job as a systems analyst at a large insurance company this summer to begin her M.Div. studies at LTSP.

The church has always been central to the rhythm of her life. She enjoyed Sunday school, choir, camp and youth group as a child. As an adult, she served in a number of leadership positions. Congregation, campus ministry and outdoor ministry all played a part in her discernment process.

Nancy is confident that "we are each guided and supported by God along the way in our journeys." And she is glad that this part of her journey has brought her to LTSP. "I look forward to the ways in which I will be challenged, changed, and marked by my time here," she says.
